WHY THIS STORY:
Luke’s personal connection with the Ecuadorian Amazon
My whole life, I grew up surrounded by all these problems, connecting to people and nature, understanding how different cultures perceive our species' existence on the
planet and our place in the universe. I was lucky enough to travel to the Amazon and live with the indigenous communities, and also travel to places where very few human beings have been documenting species that have recently been discovered by science, or animals so rare that not even scientists investigating them have the opportunity to see.

I was lucky enough to travel to the Amazon and live with the indigenous communities, and also travel to places where very few human beings have been documenting species that have recently been discovered by science, or animals so rare that not even scientists investigating them have the opportunity to see.
I grew up in a family that has always been working on conservation. My father became one of the most
Renowned bird photographers in the Neotropics to help conserve these species and ecosystems. With this also came a connection to the dozens of ethnic groups in my homeland, Ecuador, and to their connection to nature, to the environment, and to the complex sociocultural forces of globalization and indigenous voices.
